BARBER/COSMETOLOGY INSPECTOR

Position Barber/Cosmetology Inspector, Office of Professional Licensure and Certification, Licensing and Board Administration Division, State of New Hampshire, Concord, NH. Position #18210. Salary: $25.40 - $34.14 per hour. Summary Inspect and investigate establishments licensed under RSA 313‑A within the Board of Barbering, Cosmetology, and Esthetics to determine compliance with state laws and regulations. Responsibilities Conduct inspections of barber, cosmetology, esthetics, and manicuring schools, shops, booth renters, and training facilities to verify compliance with health hazard and sanitary procedures. Inspect licensing and financial records to ensure owners, operators, and lessees/tenants are properly licensed in accordance with state laws and board policies. Explain inspection results to owners, licensees, and supervisors and advise on corrective actions. Investigate complaints submitted by the public, report findings to the Board, and recommend corrective action or policy changes. Consult with and advise community officials regarding sanitation activities within their jurisdiction. Recommend issuance or withholding of licenses based on on‑site inspections. Maintain records, prepare reports, initiate correspondence, and prepare replies to inquiries. Assist in prosecution of licensees with the Attorney General’s Office and testify at adjudicative proceedings. Qualifications Bachelor's degree and 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of 5 years of education and experience after high school, with education and experience in barbering, cosmetology, esthetics, or manicuring. Possession of a current Barber, Cosmetology, Esthetician, Manicurist, or Master Barber license under RSA Chapter 313‑A. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. Trainee Option Candidates with an equivalent combination of 4+ years of relevant education and experience after high school may be considered for trainee status, with a maximum of one year to meet full qualifications.
