Position Summary

\n

The New STG D-EHC Technical Advisor provides on-site technical leadership and advisory support for the installation, integration, testing, and commissioning support of Digital Electro-Hydraulic Control (D-EHC) systems for newly supplied steam turbines. This role is focused on new steam turbine projects and works closely with EPC contractors, Toshiba Japan engineering, control system vendors, and TAES project teams to ensure EHC control systems are installed, configured, and validated in full compliance with Toshiba design specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements. The position serves as the field technical authority for D-EHC system installation and readiness and is responsible for execution, witnessing, and documentation of all Critical-to-Quality (CTQ) checks through system turnover. The role may also support customer training at the conclusion of commissioning using project-developed training materials.

Key Responsibilities

\n

· Provide on-site technical advisory support for installation and integration of steam turbine D-EHC systems and associated hydraulic and control components.

\n

· Ensure D-EHC system installation and configuration are performed in accordance with Toshiba design drawings, control philosophies, specifications, and quality requirements.

\n

· Serve as the primary technical interface between EPC contractors, TAES project management, Toshiba Japan engineering, and control system vendors for D-EHC-related activities.

\n

· Review and validate EPC D-EHC installation procedures, system checkout plans, flushing plans, and testing methodologies for technical compliance.

\n

· Perform, witness, and document all Critical-to-Quality (CTQ) inspections and hold points related to D-EHC systems, including hydraulic piping, cleanliness, and functional checks.

\n

· Verify hydraulic oil cleanliness levels, system pressures, response characteristics, valve actuation performance, and alarm/interlock functionality.

\n

· Support D-EHC system functional testing and commissioning activities in coordination with commissioning and I&C teams.

\n

· Identify, document, and support resolution of D-EHC installation and configuration non-conformances in coordination with engineering and quality teams.

\n

· Participate in site safety meetings and actively promote safe work practices during D-EHC installation and testing activities.

\n

· Support customer training sessions at project closeout, delivering system overview and operational training using materials prepared by the project team.

\n

Training, Qualification & Certification

\n

· Complete required classroom and factory training in Japan, including hands‑on support of equipment assembly, to develop detailed knowledge of scope of supply, design documentation, and quality requirements. Expected four to six months of initial training in Japan.

\n

· Perform U.S.‑based OJT assignments during new unit installations, with formal skill evaluations. Successful completion of one or more OJT assignments and demonstration of skills will result in TA certification as a fully qualified, billable Technical Advisor.

\n

· Participate in ongoing training in Japan to maintain qualification and support future project needs.

\n

Qualifications & Experience

\n

\n
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related technical discipline preferred. Equivalent combination of technical training and extensive field experience will be considered in lieu of a formal degree.

• Experience: Minimum 8–12 years of field experience with steam turbine control systems, D-EHC systems, hydraulic systems, or power plant control and instrumentation systems. Direct experience supporting new steam turbine projects or OEM control systems is strongly preferred.
\n
• Technical Knowledge: Electro-hydraulic control systems; turbine hydraulic systems; servo valves and actuators; hydraulic power units; oil flushing and cleanliness standards; control system interfaces; alarm and protection logic; commissioning support practices; and construction site safety and quality management systems.

Working Conditions

\n

This position requires extended on-site assignment at power plant construction locations, typically 6–8 months per project depending on scope. Work will be performed in industrial environments and may include exposure to elevated structures, confined spaces, and varying weather conditions. Flexible work hours are required to support critical system testing, commissioning support, and training activities.
