Special Procedures/Unit Details: REQUIRED: This position practices in accordance with the standards of practice and standards of professional performance as outlined by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics for dietetic technicians, registered (DTR). The clinical DTR provides direct care to individual patients on designated units in the inpatient acute care setting by completing case finding, complex menu review, reconciliation of nutrition orders between systems, oversight of the meal time mates program, patient education per scope of practice, coordination of the plan of care in conjunction with the registered dietitian (RD), and supplement and tube feeding review. This position creates an environment or culture that enables the unit and hospital to fulfill its mission and meet or exceed its goals. Performs all job duties with sensitivity and attention to the cultural, age, developmental, and environmental safety issues of the patient population(s) served. Interacts effectively with inter- and/or intradepartmental medical and support personnel to meet patient care goals and provide timely response to requests. Contributes to successful fiscal management of food service operations. Performs other job task as assigned.

Skills: Organizational ability to include coordination of multiple projects within established timeframes, problem analysis and resolution, and excellent interpersonal skills. Customer oriented. Possesses proficient computer skills comprised of a working knowledge of Windows including Excel and Powerpoint programs. As applicable to individual job duties and expectations, must additionally possess a working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, presentation development, e-mail, Internet, iPhone devices, and data entry and analysis. Able to communicate in English, verbally and in writing, with staff, patients and customers over the telephone or in person. Able to evaluate processes, identify areas of improvement, develop programs and systems in a team environment to meet desired outcomes.

Skills Preferred: Experience in EPIC and Computrition applications.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand and walk distances over the greater portion of the assigned shift. Must be able to see, speak and hear clearly.

Work Environment: Must be able to perform assigned duties in a demanding work environment; may be required to attend meetings in off-campus locations and provide in-services to groups out of regular working hours. May be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases. Subject to frequent handwashing and use of alcohol-l based hand sanitizer. Occasional exposure to unpleasant patient or unit conditions. State License Required: Credentialing as Diet Technician Registered by Commission on Dietetic Registration.

Travel Compliance Submission Rules: Licensure Temp/Pending licenses not accepted. Valid perm California license must be in hand at time of submission. Locals accepted at same rate. No radius rule. Valid State License - Must have CA license in hand at the time of submittal. No Pending or temp. References - 2 references from within the past 1 year of employment are required at the time of submission. Must be supervisor or higher - No Charge RN. Hard Stop. Return Staff Policy - Previous perm employees must be separated for 24 months before they are eligible for travel positions at all Cedars-Sinai facilities (including Torrance Memorial Medical Center and Cedars Marina Del Rey), with the exception of CSMN, which requires a 12 month separation. All past Cedars employment (travel, staff, etc.) MUST be included on profile. This includes Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Cedars Marina Del Rey, Torrance Memorial, Cedars-Sinai Medical Network (CSMN), Huntington Health Physicians (HHP) and Huntington Hospital. Scheduling Requests None allowed. Traveler should be flexible. Background Policy - Any license or background hit requires a detailed written statement from the traveler. License/background hits will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Any license or background hits that are open and/or pending are an automatic redirect. All hits must be completely closed. RTO Rules: Max RTO: 2 weeks total. No RTO within the first 2 weeks of the assignment. Compliance: Modules: Modules are billable and non-billable, 10-40 hours. Billable: the first 17 hours or HealthStream Modules are billable. Non-billable: any time spent on modules after first 17 hours in non-billable. Modules are completed pre-start and during orientation if not completed pre-start, and vary by specialty. Modules are self-reported on module timecard.
