Core Responsibilities

As a Pharmacy Assistant at our Ponahawai location, your primary focus is to ensure customer satisfaction by accurately assisting the Pharmacists on duty with processing and filling prescriptions, while also neatly and accurately stocking the sales floor in a timely manner. You play a key role in building customer loyalty through courteous, pleasant, and patient service.

• Prescription Processing & Pharmacy Operations: Receive prescriptions and medical information from customers. Retrieve proper medications, type, bill, count, package, and properly price prescriptions. Collect payments using the POS system, refill and maintain pill-counting technology ("robot"), process invoices, file prescriptions, and assist with inventory management and returns.
• Prepared Foods & Sales Floor Care: Prepare, pack, label, price, and display hot and cold food products (sandwiches, heated items, etc.). Refill and maintain showcases, clean and sanitize food contact areas, and break down hot line displays. Brew coffee, use microwaves/warmers, and maintain the coffee and food area.
• Stocking & Department Upkeep: Retrieve merchandise from storage, transport it to the sales floor, display it neatly, and keep shelves fronted, rotated, and dusted while removing outdated products. Maintain cleanliness at the checkout, in accountability rooms, and throughout the department. Count and balance register tills after each shift.
• Customer & Team Engagement: Promptly, courteously, and efficiently greet, thank, offer assistance, and meet the needs of all customers. Answer incoming telephone calls, respond to PA pages, and assist shoppers with local hospitality.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands

• Environment: Continuously perform duties indoors in an air-conditioned building with a high volume of customers and co-workers. Seldom require travel to work at other KTA store locations.
• Physical Effort: Continuous standing and walking throughout shifts. Continuous use of hands/fingers to handle stock containers, vials, spatulas, counting trays, and compute/type on keyboards. Occasional stooping, bending, squatting, kneeling, crouching, reaching, or climbing step-stools/ladders. Seldom lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Safety & Compliance: Must strictly adhere to patient privacy guidelines and sign/uphold the KTA Pharmacy Pledge of Confidentiality.

What You Bring (Qualifications)

• Age Restrictions: Must be at least 16 years of age to use a case cutter. Must be at least 18 years of age to operate a trash baler, freight elevator, paper cutter, or power-driven equipment. Must be at least 18 years of age with a valid Driver License and company certification if operating a forklift or company vehicle.
• Background Check Requirement: Must consent to a criminal background check and be free from any felony convictions related to controlled substances. Must agree to conditional offer background checks and periodic checks as a condition of employment in the Pharmacy department.
• Skills & Knowledge: Computer literate and skilled in verbal and written communication with the ability to multi-task. Good mathematical skills for computing, measuring, and billing purposes. Ability to operate pharmacy technology, food equipment, office computers, and POS systems. Knowledge of health insurance plans is helpful.
• Work Habits: High attention to detail, strong discretion, and ability to remain cool, calm, and accurate under constant pressure. Punctual, self-motivated, honest, and service-oriented.
• Availability: General availability to work flexible shifts 7 days a week and holidays, typically between 6:00 AM and 8:00 PM.
