We are looking for a Staff Accountant to support core accounting activities for a growing organization in Boston, Massachusetts. This contract opportunity with potential for a permanent role offers a part-time schedule during standard business hours and is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work across payables, receivables, cash management, and month-end tasks. The role blends routine transactional accounting with broader operational support, making it a strong fit for an adaptable team member who is comfortable with accounting systems and eager to contribute to a collaborative finance team.

Responsibilities:
• Oversee the accounts payable workflow by examining invoices, confirming general ledger coding, coordinating approvals, and processing authorized payments through the designated expense platform.
• Create customer invoices and assist with ongoing billing operations to help ensure timely and accurate revenue processing.
• Record and monitor daily cash activity, maintaining complete and accurate documentation of incoming and outgoing transactions.
• Complete bank account reconciliations and support balance sheet reconciliation work to strengthen the accuracy of financial records.
• Contribute to the month-end close by preparing assigned entries, tracking checklist items, and helping keep closing deadlines on schedule.
• Build a working understanding of how accounting activity impacts the financial statements and support the preparation of reliable reporting.
• Provide day-to-day assistance across accounting and finance operations, stepping in where needed to support the broader team.
• Support efforts to bring more accounting processes back in-house by helping establish consistent and efficient operational workflows.• At least 1 year of accounting experience with exposure to both accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
• Working knowledge of invoice processing, billing support, and general ledger coding practices.
• Experience using QuickBooks Online in a detail-focused setting.
• Comfort working with financial systems and related tools, including platforms such as Brex and Avalara.
• Familiarity with bank reconciliations, month-end close activities, and basic financial statement flow.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage recurring tasks with a high level of accuracy.
• Tech-savvy approach with the ability to learn systems quickly and work effectively in a changing environment.
