Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU position at an academic medical center in St. Louis, MO, requiring strong neuro skills, Epic proficiency, and a MO or compact RN license.

• Neuro ICU setting within a 356-bed non-profit, research and academic medical center in St. Louis, MO
• Tertiary care facility affiliated with a medical university school of medicine
• Neuro ICU patient population with a 1:1 patient ratio
• Specialized skills utilized include CVA/acute stroke management, EVD care, ICP monitoring, hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun, post-neurosurgery management, spinal cord injury, and TBI care
• Ventilated patient care including ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and ETT/NT suctioning
• Epic EMR required
• Night shift, 7p–7:30a; 3x12 or 4x12 schedules accepted
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required to ICU, TCU/PCU, and all hospital care areas within scope, including ED holds for admitted ICU and TCU/PCU patients
• On-site parking garage available at no cost

Requirements

• Active MO RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Strong neuro skills required; formal Neuro ICU work history preferred but not required
• Trauma Level I experience required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Epic EMR proficiency required
• Candidates must reside more than 70 miles from the facility to be eligible
• 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Travelers who have previously worked at this facility cannot return until a 6-month break has been taken after reaching 1 year of traveler tenure
• Facility is an academic medical center affiliated with a university school of medicine, providing tertiary and trauma care for the region
• Pre-start orientation modules are required and completed prior to the assignment start date; RN modules may take up to 5–6 hours
• Fit testing is required prior to start — candidates must be clean-shaven to ensure proper mask seal; CAPRs and PAPRs are not provided or permitted, and no medical or religious exemptions are accepted
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
