Medical Assistant, Senior - Endocrinology Associates

UPMC is hiring a full-time Medical Assistant, Senior to support the Endocrinology Associates Outpatient team/office in Lemoyne . Job title and salary will be based on qualifications and career ladder requirements.

This team/office is a large, expansive department that provides an open, learning environment as well as provides a supportive/mentoring staff and leadership.

Shift/Hours: Monday-Friday from 7:30am-4:00pm or 8:00am-4:30pm. No weekends or holidays!

Up to 25% travel may be required to assist other local teams/offices. Manager will discuss details further during interview

This position offers a $1,500.00 sign-on bonus with 1-year work commitment!

Responsibilities:

• Check schedules and organizing patient flow.
• Assist patients as needed with walking, transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, preparing for exam, etc.
• Collect patient information/history, taking vitals, performing screenings per provider guidelines.
• Send/receive patient medical records in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other state and federal regulations.
• Prepare and clean patient, exam, and procedure rooms, instruments and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control.
• Manage inventory of supplies; restocking exam/procedure rooms.
• Comply with requirements of appropriate regulatory agencies (i.e. OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health).
• Comply with all UPMC Health System policies and procedures.
• Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and level one labs.
• Perform clinic procedures according to policy and procedure.
• Answering calls and providing pertinent information including patient education as directed.
• Obtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc.
• Complete forms/requisitions as needed.
• Schedule appointments.
• Prepare and managing charts to ensure information completed and filed appropriately.
• Other front office responsibilities, as required.
• Under the direction and supervision of a physician, administer injectable medication and vaccines when appropriate.

Medical Assistant Senior:

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Successful completion of Medical Assistant Program or equivalent hospital program (LPN/RN/EMT) OR successful completion of certification examination (AMT, AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, or NHA) OR at least 1 year of patient care experience required.
• Must be responsible and demonstrate proficiency in three practice category specific tasks.
• Must have basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology, examination, diagnostic and treatment room responsibilities.
• Prior Ob/Gyn experience preferred.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

• CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
• Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting
• Act 33
• Act 34
• Act 73 FBI Clearance
