Job Description

AECOM is seeking an Archaeology Technician II for immediate employment in our Portland, OR office. This is a remote, part-time, on-call position, meaning workdays and times will be determined on an as-needed basis.

The Archaeology Technician primarily performs fieldwork under the supervision of a Crew Chief, Field Director and/or Principal Investigator. Field projects will primarily be in the PNW (Oregon and Washington State) with the opportunity for additional projects as they present . Candidates will need flexibility to travel overnight for field work sessions.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Conduct archaeological field work under the guidance of a field supervisor.

• Identify and document cultural resources

• Follow Health and Safety protocols and adhere to all AECOM procedures.

• Assist the field supervisor with technical aspects of field work.

• Collects and enters data and applies technical principles and theories under supervision.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School graduate + 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education in archaeological fieldwork.

• Valid US Driver's License and pre-employment driving record verification are required.

• Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or related field.

• 3+ years of experience with a wide range of field methodologies, including archaeological survey, testing, excavation, and monitoring.

• Completion of an archaeological field school is highly desired.

• Experience with Geospatial technology including GPS and GIS.

• Computer proficiency including familiarity with Microsoft Office.

Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $22 to $33.
