Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)

Role Overview The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) provides patient-centered occupational therapy services across all ages, acting as a clinical resource and role model for staff and students. Key Responsibilities Follows and adjusts treatment plans based on patient response in collaboration with the evaluating therapist. Implements occupation-based, individualized interventions considering patient needs, environment, and outcomes. Educates patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare providers using effective teaching methods. Documents accurately in EMR, communicates progress with the referring provider, and collaborates with the healthcare team. Performs assessments such as range of motion measurements and provides ADL training. Serves as a resource for conflict resolution and contributes to quality service delivery.
