The Ophthalmic Photographer is primarily responsible for coordinating photography and diagnostic services and performing ophthalmic photography for diagnostic, documentation, and educational purposes in the clinic. Photography and diagnostic services include but are not limited to all Fundus cameras (standard and SLO), OCT machines, Clarus, Optos, Topcon, and the Heidelberg cameras at the main office and all satellite offices. Ophthalmic photographers must present a positive and professional image of the practice to patients. Capture images for all physicians on all modalities – Clarus, Optos, Heidelberg, Topcon, OCT, OCT-A, and Slit Lamp Camera. Helps maintain the Forum Database to keep records accurate and up to date. Performs clinical ophthalmic photography and diagnostic imaging studies. Must be able to perform montage photos consistently and accurately on all cameras. Travels to Satellite locations when needed. Must be able to train peers & techs on all imaging equipment. Responsible for maintaining efficiency within the imaging department and clinic. Must be able to perform patient workups that include obtaining a medical history, pupillary assessment, IOP measurement, EOM measurement, confrontational visual field, instilling eyedrops and numbing agents, and obtaining treatment consent. Must be able to perform visual field testing as needed. The responsibilities listed are a general overview of the position and additional duties may be assigned. Education, Training, and Experience High school diploma or GED. Certification in Retinal Angiography or certification eligible, with certification obtained within one year of employment. One year of experience in ophthalmology or photography procedures. Must have a working knowledge of all ophthalmic terminology, spelling, and pronunciation. Effective verbal and written communication skills with patients, physicians, management, and employees Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel Outlook) along with the ability to learn and adapt quickly to new software. Proficient in understanding reading and interpreting all contents of the paper and electronic medical charts (ERM) Excellent Organizational skills, multi-task, and logical thinking Ability to be proactive, take initiative, and perform well in a fast-paced high-volume practice. Basic understanding of eye anatomy, medical terminology, ocular pathology, and eye diseases. Confidentiality Maintains strict confidentiality regarding protected health information (PHI) and understands and adheres to TNR’s HIPAA privacy and security policies and procedures. Typical Physical and Working Demands Position requires prolonged walking, sitting, bending, stooping, and stretching. Good eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity are required to operate keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment. Employees must have a normal hearing range and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate reports.
