Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a CVICU Float Pool position in Asheville, NC, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience and proficiency with advanced cardiac equipment including vents, IABP, and Impella.

Details

• 16-bed Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) unit located in the J Building of a large hospital in Asheville, NC
• Patient ratios are 2:1 or 1:1, with occasional 3:1 depending on acuity
• RN-only unit — no HUC or PCT support
• Equipment used includes ventilators, telemetry, Baxter IV pumps, IABP, CRRT, Impella, and hypothermia equipment
• Charting is performed in Cerner
• Schedule is 36 hours/week with 12-hour day shifts (6:45 AM–7:15 PM) on alternating weekends
• Travelers are required to float to all areas of the facility
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active NC or Compact RN license required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA or ARC accepted); certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required for CVICU RNs
• Minimum 2 years of recent ICU nursing experience required
• Proficiency required in titration of vesicant medications, pressors, sedation, and paralytics
• Experience required with mechanical ventilation and tracheostomy care
• Telemetry interpretation skills required
• Understanding of hemodynamics and PA catheter setup and interpretation required
• CCRN certification is recommended but not required; IABP, Impella, and CRRT experience are a plus
• SSN (US only) and date of birth required for consideration
• One professional reference required (two required if currently licensed in Florida or Missouri)
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

Additional Information

• Clinical responsibilities include transvenous pacing, cardioversion, TEE assistance, and familiarity with chest tube insertions and maintenance, bronchoscopy, EGD, pericardiocentesis, and thoracentesis
• Procedures performed on the unit include cardioversion, central line insertion, EGD, bronchoscopy, chest tube insertions, pericardiocentesis, and thoracentesis
• Required scrub color is all navy or navy and white; no pullovers, hoodies, or green scrubs permitted
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible for this position
