Endocrinology Physician

General duties include, but are not limited to:

• Clinical practice, supervising and teaching Endocrine fellows, residents and medical students.
• Providing consultation on various forms of endocrine disease states, both for diagnosis and treatment in the inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Expected to share attending call responsibilities with other Endocrinologists in covering some nights, weekends and holiday calls as needed. The physician will round with the team of fellow(s), resident(s), and medical student(s) as regards to inpatient settings.
• Lead and manage the Endocrine team consisting of Endocrine fellows, residents, medical students, Pharmacists, Mid-Level Providers, etc. while on inpatient service or in clinical setting.
• The Endocrine/Diabetes Physician (MD/DO) is administratively responsible to the Chief of Medicine. Clinical oversight is provided by the collaborating physician, Section Chief, Endocrinology. The physician, as a member of the department, communicates with other healthcare providers to manage consults and additional services as required.
• Recognizing patients appropriate for referral or consultation with the collaborating physician. Consultations with collaborating physicians may occur through personal, telephone, or electronic media contact.
• Clinical activities may include, but are not limited to, clinical assessment and evaluation - Inpatients and Outpatients. Health care management of assigned veteran patients with acute and chronic illnesses. Ordering and interpreting laboratory and diagnostic studies. Ordering consultation and referrals - Inpatients and Outpatients. Patient follow-up, as appropriate. Health promotion and disease prevention. Patient, family, and staff education and counseling. Clinical research (must have separate research approval).
• Administrative activities, including performance improvement activities, research, and non-clinical tasks as assigned. Exhibits leadership in initializing changes in patient care programs based on current concepts and findings from research and studies. Stays informed on developments in the management and treatment of diseases and illness through continuing medical education.
• Any other duties as assigned by the supervising physician or his/her designee as it relates to scope of practice.

Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases
