Position Summary As part of the Ob Hospitalist Group (OBHG) clinical leadership team, a Market Medical Director focuses on clinical operations with an emphasis on new program starts, clinical leadership, hospital relationships, and business development support. This position reports to the Medical Director of Operations and collaborates with the MDO to ensure clinical teams deliver quality programs that meet OBHG’s and hospital objectives. Position Responsibilities New Program Starts Collaborate with OBHG DOO and MDO to ensure all clinical aspects of new programs are handled consistently and timely. Participate in new‑program meetings (on‑site or remote) to address clinical aspects and build rapport. Conduct clinical interviews for new team members and complete required HR documentation. Ensure that a qualified Site Director is selected and trained for the new program. Participate in on‑site hospital interviews for new team members whenever available. Perform or oversee the completion of the OBHG Orientation and ensure coverage for the first two days of the new program when possible. Serve as interim Site Director until a permanent Site Director is identified and trained. Clinical Leadership Oversee, with the MDO, delivery of clinical services at all assigned hospitals. Ensure consistent performance of clinical services in accordance with program definition. Supervise, mentor, advise, and support Site Directors and individual team members. Develop Site Directors into independent clinical leaders for their assigned programs. Ensure Site Directors are trained to perform clinical interviews for their programs. Communicate and enforce clinical policies, procedures, and expectations at all programs. Manage clinician issues in collaboration with the Site Director and, when appropriate, elevate to the MDO. Collaborate with the Site Director, scheduler, and HR to achieve 100% schedule coverage at all hospitals. Provide written and verbal status updates on assigned client hospitals. Encourage and ensure hospitalist participation in overall quality initiatives. Assist in enforcement of hospitalist training requirements. Serve as liaison between OBHG support teams and hospitalists. Hospital Relationship Management Collaborate with OBHG Director of Operations to ensure all clinical aspects of the program are consistent and timely. Communicate regularly, with the MDO, with hospital clinical leadership (CMO, Chief OB, Director of Women’s) to build a strong relationship on behalf of OBHG. Document relevant phone and in‑person meetings through email or phone communication with the DOO. Reinforce OBHG’s clinical value proposition at hospitals. Participate in hospital meetings to address program concerns, questions, and opportunities. Ensure clinical services meet hospital objectives and expectations. Participate in program performance reviews. Business Development Support Collaborate with Director(s) of Business Development for the assigned region. Provide support for business development meetings as requested. Provide clinical leadership for meetings with potential new clients, in person or remotely. Ensure a smooth transition from the sales process to operations. Essential Skills and Qualifications Currently an OBHG hospitalist working at least five (5) shifts per 28‑day block. Minimum of one year of hospitalist experience with OBHG. Board Certified OB/GYN Physician. Strong relational skills with ability to build rapport with hospital leadership, staff, and OBHG corporate staff. Team‑oriented, service‑mindful, goal‑focused individual aligned with OBHG mission. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proven leadership abilities. Able to travel as needed. Preferred Skills and Experience Hospital‑based leadership experience (e.g., Chief OB, Department Chair). Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Mental and Physical Demands Physical Demands Sitting for prolonged periods. Walking, standing, stooping, or kneeling. Regular use of computer keyboard, mouse, and telephone. Lifting and carrying objects up to 15 pounds. Close vision work and focusing adjustments. Travel required. Travel Demands Visit each assigned hospital at least annually. Attend multiple on‑site meetings for new program starts during onboarding. Be available to travel to programs requiring clinical leadership presence as needed.
