Medical Support Specialist

Role Overview: The Medical Support Specialist supports outpatient psychiatric services by collaborating with healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient care. Key responsibilities include performing initial assessments, taking vital signs, documenting visit details, managing provider schedules, scheduling appointments, and ensuring proper patient intake and referrals. The role involves supporting telehealth services, performing basic clinical tasks such as phlebotomy and medication injections, and maintaining infection control standards. The specialist updates patient records, processes authorizations and referrals, and communicates effectively with patients and providers. Flexibility to adapt to changing duties and work hours is essential. Qualifications & Skills: High school diploma or GED required; Medical Assistant training or relevant healthcare experience preferred. Knowledge of psychiatric medications, diagnoses, and treatment plans is necessary. Certification (RMA or CMA) is a plus. Strong customer service, communication, organization, and data entry skills are essential. Familiarity with electronic health records and treatment modalities for mental health populations is desired. The role requires physical capacity to perform clinical tasks and work in an in-person outpatient setting, with occasional bending, reaching, and light lifting.
