Position Summary The Plant Manager is responsible for developing and implementing operational policies, objectives, and initiatives for the Alexandria Extrusion Mid‑America facility. The role provides guidance, support, and mentorship to managers and departments of Customer Service, Engineering, Extrusion, Extrusion Support, and Maintenance, and works to achieve short‑ and long‑term strategic goals to ensure growth of the department and organization. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Leadership Ensure safety is the number one priority and promote a safe work environment and safety‑oriented culture by following all safety programs and guidelines. Exhibit active servant leadership to model and support the company’s values and vision. Build connections with people at all levels of the organization to strengthen culture. Work with organizational leaders and human resources to train and develop employees through formalized training programs. Support a working environment that enables employees to be creative, innovative, and challenged. Business Operations Develop and implement strategic business objectives. Prepare and monitor budgets for all departments. Develop policies and procedures to ensure operational and sales goals are met. Align department goals and initiatives with the organization’s mission and culture. Promote the business and service of Alexandria Extrusion Mid‑America throughout the Indianapolis, IN communities. Work with the sales team to implement the sales plan. Coordinate financial budget activities to fund operations, maximize investments, and increase efficiency and productivity. Analyze operations to evaluate performance and identify areas for cost reduction and continuous improvement. Provide support to Quality leadership to create and sustain a strong quality foundation that meets organizational quality goals. Support continuous improvement efforts to drive significant results for the business and employees. Support Advance Product Quality Planning (APQP), Process Failure Mode and Effect (PFMEA), and Product Control Plans (CP) to optimize operations. Support the Design of Manufacturability (DFM) process. Ensure that employees understand what an “A” looks like for the day. Facility and Equipment Utilize and develop plant production measurement systems to improve machine utilization and productivity. Ensure each department is appropriately staffed to meet production needs and customer service expectations. Ensure facility and equipment are in safe working conditions under safety policy and state and federal laws. Ensure manufacturing systems provide proper work instructions and allow employees to update production information. Promote environmentally responsible systems and processes. Have operations review top running jobs to ensure they are performing to standard and that the operation team is running the best process on the right equipment. Ensure the preventive maintenance program is developed, implemented, and effective. Customer Service Develop and maintain strong customer relationships (internal and external). Continuously improve quality standards to provide products that exceed customer expectations. Maintain and improve manufacturing capabilities, lead times, and on‑time delivery. Review customer satisfaction surveys and implement changes based on feedback. Other Job Duties Perform all other related assignments (including special projects) as required in a professional and cooperative manner. Minimum Qualifications Education: Associates or Bachelors degree in business, engineering, or related program preferred. Experience: 10+ years of leadership experience. 5+ years overseeing a 6‑000 series aluminum extrusion operation. Other required knowledge, skills, and abilities: Strong knowledge of Alexandria Industries business operations and procedures. Knowledge of aluminum manufacturing. Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with others. Strong computer skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Ability to recognize safety concerns. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Excellent presentation skills. Budgeting and accounting principles. Ability to provide strong servant leadership to support team members. Ability to take part in continuous education and training. Ability to interact at a high level with all levels of the organization. Ability to maintain professionalism and composure in every situation. Ability to use logic and reason to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions. Work flexible hours, overtime and on‑call. Excellent project management skills. Ability to lead and influence others. Ability to travel up to 5–10% of the time. Precision Machining: High‑accuracy CNC milling and turning, including 5‑axis machining for complex parts. Fabrication & Assembly: Bending, punching, stretch forming, and full component assembly. Specialized Molding: Plastic injection and foam molding services. Welding & Finishing: Expertise in TIG/MIG welding and both mechanical and chemical finishing processes.
