Senior Product Safety Engineer, Electrical

Senior Product Safety Engineer supporting Stryker's Mako Robotics team in ensuring electrical safety, regulatory compliance, and risk management for advanced robotic-assisted surgical devices. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams on hazard analysis, EMC testing, standards interpretation, and design safety integration throughout product development.
Responsibilities
- Identify, evaluate, and document electrical and system-level safety hazards; develop risk management documentation including FMEAs and safety assessments
- Apply electrical safety and EMC principles to evaluate product designs and support troubleshooting and design improvements
- Plan, coordinate, and support electrical safety and EMC testing with internal teams and external laboratories (UL, CSA, TÜV)
- Collaborate with electrical, systems, mechanical, and software engineers to integrate safety requirements and identify issues early
- Investigate safety-related test failures, perform root cause analysis, and verify corrective actions with engineering teams
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline
- Minimum 2 years relevant experience in electrical engineering, product development, hardware testing, or product safety
- Understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals, circuits, system behavior, and troubleshooting
- Knowledge of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC/EMI) principles and application
- Ability to interpret technical standards, analyze test results, and recommend engineering solutions
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Experience with medical device development or regulated industry engineering preferred
Compensation: $89,300–$148,800 USD annual
