2nd Shift Maintenance Manager Operations

Job Overview Maintenance Manager for the production maintenance team provides leadership and cross‑functional expertise to maintenance personnel in the packaging areas. Responsible for managing the effective execution of all maintenance and project work within assigned areas of responsibility. Provides inclusiveness, progressive continuous improvement of skills, and fosters a culture of development. This position works 2nd shift, 8 hours, Monday through Friday, with willingness to work irregular hours/days to support multi‑shift operation on an as‑needed basis. Primary Responsibilities Delivery: Troubleshoot equipment problems, identify need for new equipment or modifications to reduce downtime. Ensure preventative and corrective maintenance support to packaging equipment performed per schedule or business need. Work with other Maintenance Managers to plan and execute plant shutdown activities. Provide equipment‑related expertise and technical guidance necessary to troubleshoot and problem‑solve equipment issues to minimize impact to supply. Manage adherence to departmental maintenance and operational metrics; ensure adherence to design standards and downtime tracking. Resolve and escalated issues impacting supply within daily, weekly, and monthly IPT management processes. Initiate and engage in problem‑solving and identify short‑term and long‑term actions to prevent problem reoccurrence. Adhere to the applicable escalation process for safety, quality and downtime events. Approve IQ/OQ/PQ/CC and other documents. Partner with MPS, Process Improvement Engineers and Operators to identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives. Evaluate maintenance impact and serve as point‑of‑contact for all new equipment and/or modifications to existing processes or equipment related to shift/area. Compliance: Investigate, determine root cause, and implement robust CAPAs for any team‑related compliance discrepancies noted during day‑to‑day activities and/or audits. Escalate as per IPT management processes. Ensure 100% PM compliance per maintenance schedule within team. Provide business owner review and approval for IQ/OQ/PQ, SOPs, validation, and change control documentation. Participate in internal and external audits and inspections. Use Root Cause Analysis tools to identify true root cause for quality and safety events. Author, review, approve and/or participate in quality investigations. Initiate, review and approve safety investigations. Identify quality‑related trends and facilitate implementation of corrective actions. Create/Revise Standard Operating Procedures, Forms and other batch‑related documents. Leadership & People Management Assist team with development of objectives and ensure alignment with site goals. Provide leadership to the Maintenance team including coaching, development, and performance management. Ensure a culture of inclusion and consistency is maintained, supporting positive employee relations at the shop floor level within the team and site. Provide mentorship and training to team and peers. Liaison effectively with alternate shifts, site Maintenance & Utilities, DMO, and Reliability Engineering teams to share best practices, deliver training, and ensure consistency and alignment in approach. Actively participate on cross‑functional teams in an inclusive manner to advance project goals and achieve deliverables. Provide timely feedback and evaluate/address performance of direct reports. Assess employee training/development needs and implement actions to address those needs. Support employee development initiatives in alignment with the business needs. Cost & Budget Provide shop floor related input to departmental budget and recommend continuous improvement opportunities and capital projects for IPT. Adhere to and monitor operating budget and staffing plan per Profit Plan. Recognize and investigate opportunities for financial savings. Continuous Improvement Partner with Technology, Quality, and other groups to identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives that support the strategic goals of IPT. Identify opportunities to modify standard work, procedures, or equipment to optimize efficiency. Educational and Experience Requirements Minimum: Bachelor’s degree or higher with either 4 years relevant experience in manufacturing, packaging or military service; OR 2 years’ experience in a direct GMP, manufacturing or packaging setting with demonstrated leadership skills; OR High School Diploma/GED with six years of relevant experience in manufacturing, packaging, or military service. Required Experience and Skills Demonstrated electro‑mechanical troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills with an understanding of maintenance processes, common equipment, and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems. Demonstrated ability to work independently as a team leader and team member. Demonstrated ability to motivate teams to achieve stretch goals and manage multiple priorities. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with ability to coach, influence and support others through a culture of inclusion, feedback and empowerment. Working knowledge of cGMPs and regulatory requirements as they apply to the pharmaceutical industry. Ability to read and understand technical documents, drawings and specifications. Proficiency using standard software including MS Excel, MS Word, etc. Strong written and verbal communication skills including technical writing experience with investigations, job plans, change requests, standard operating procedures, batch records, protocols, etc. Preferred Experience and Skills Experience with pharmaceutical packaging, and/or serialization/aggregation. Maintenance experience and knowledge of pharmaceutical processing, packaging or utility equipment. Strong experience utilizing CMMS systems (SAP, etc.), maintenance work management processes, performance monitoring tools, maintenance/calibration related paperwork, process control computer applications, project management practices, and expense and financial systems. Experience in Continuous Improvement, Lean Manufacturing, Problem Solving, and/or Right First Time methodologies. Familiarity with Change Execution Management and Behavioral Coaching / Consequence Management tools. Experience supporting regulatory inspections including FDA. 5 years coaching/supervisory experience in a maintenance role. Compensation & Benefits Salary range: $106,200.00 - $167,200.00. Eligibility for annual bonus and long‑term incentive, if applicable.
