Registered Nurse - Surgical Trauma Unit

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Full-time, 3x12-hour night shifts (19:00 - 07:30) with weekend and holiday rotation.

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Surgical Trauma Unit. This role involves specializing in pre-operative and post-operative care for surgical patients, particularly those in stable conditions. The candidate must be able to efficiently manage a high volume of patients and demonstrate proficiency in various surgical procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive care for stable trauma patients, focusing on both pre-operative and post-operative needs.
• Administer blood products and manage peripheral lines.
• Utilize rapid response teams effectively when needed.
• Monitor patients for dysrhythmia and provide appropriate interventions.
• Conduct patient assessments and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for optimal care delivery.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum 2 years' experience in a surgical setting, with preference given to candidates with trauma experience.
• Current RN license required.
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred.
• Experience with the EPIC charting system is mandatory.
• Must be willing to float between Cone Health campuses as needed.
• Pass/Fail EKG exam required prior to start; study materials will not be provided.
