Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to medically complex, critically ill patients in a high-acuity Medical ICU setting
- Manage patients with conditions including respiratory failure requiring noninvasive or mechanical ventilation, multisystem organ failure, various shock states, ARDS, DKA, CVA post-tPA, and cardiac arrest with TTM
- Assist with and support bedside procedures including central and arterial line placements, chest tube placement, rapid sequence intubation, paracentesis, and thoracentesis
- Maintain standard nurse-to-patient ratio of 2:1, with potential adjustment to 4:1 when boarding patients awaiting inpatient transfer
- Collaborate with CNA support staff present each shift to deliver comprehensive patient care
- Float to telemetry or like units within the facility as census demands
Required Qualifications
- Active Washington State RN license or valid Compact RN license
- Minimum of 2 years of ICU nursing experience
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Proficiency with EPIC electronic health records system
- Must be willing to work weekends and commit to 3 of 5 designated holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility (no local candidates accepted)
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior travel nursing experience in a high-acuity ICU or MICU environment
- Experience with code blue response and management of patients on mechanical ventilation
- Familiarity with TTM protocols and management of post-cardiac arrest patients
