Electronics Test Technician II

Job Summary / Overview The Product Tester tests the function of basic electronic panels, assemblies, components, and parts, ensuring they meet customer specifications and company quality standards in accordance with company policies and procedures. Product Testers in the Material Handling business unit will have working knowledge and skills in Radio and Controls testing procedures and processes. Product Testers of the Elevator business unit will have knowledge of Elevator, Mining, and Renewable Energy testing procedures and processes. Responsibilities Examine and test control products, components, and standard panels, drives, motors, wires, etc. for flaws in a timely and accurate manner before a product is forwarded to shipping. Perform and complete a final inspection of the product and prep work prior to sending a product to shipping or stock. Pull materials or components as per work order or customer order timely and accurately. Maintain technical competency and knowledge of current and new products, remaining current with technology and industry changes. Perform assembly and testing of motors, brakes, encoders, and fiber optic cables and components. Test and troubleshoot standard pre-engineered products. Perform soldering and desoldering of circuit boards and small assemblies. Identify defective units through reading and interpreting instruments; compare instrument readings with standard schematics and specifications; reject defective units and record the type and quantity of defect. Load data into relevant databases as necessary. Support the production department by assisting as needed. Connect electronic assembly, component, or part to test instrument or to computerized test equipment, and activate test equipment. Read instruments to identify defects; compare readings with standard schematics and specifications; reject defective units. Record the type and quantity of defect. Download drive programming information into a computerized system. Read and interpret packing slips and shipping documents. Assist co‑workers as needed. Complete special projects as assigned. Complete, maintain and submit all required paperwork, records, documents, and reports ensuring compliance with departmental procedures. Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations; maintain departmental housekeeping standards. Seek and aid process improvement. Promote process improvement. Demonstrate out‑of‑the‑box thinking and creativity. Communicate ideas to supervisors; help put ideas into action and follow up. Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities Operate a variety of standard business machines. Operate a variety of testing equipment and hand tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, signal generators, sine wave generators, spectrum analyzers, and soldering equipment. Read, understand, and interpret electrical schematic drawings. Required Qualifications Requires one year of college coursework in electronics; or a high school diploma or equivalent and three plus years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
