Job Description Position Summary—The Medical Assistant (MA) assists physicians, PAs, or NPs with clerical duties, patient flow, patient care, and procedures. Essential Job Functions Prepare the examination room; escort the patient into the room; clean the room when the exam is complete. Maintain efficient patient flow. Ensure proper preparation for patient visits and prepare pertinent information needed. Communicate and provide care consistent with patient’s age, cultural, spiritual, and developmental needs. Answer the telephone appropriately and take accurate messages. Satisfy accurate appointment scheduling in accordance with departmental guidelines. Consistently and accurately stock examination rooms with necessary supplies. Assist in ordering and maintaining all supplies as assigned. Reconcile encounters daily and accurately, according to policy guidelines. Effectively communicate problems, concerns or issues to the Supervisor and/or Manager promptly. Understand and perform within scope of practice. Obtain vital signs (BP, temperature, pulse, height & weight) accurately and document in EHR. Review and update medication list and document known allergies accurately in EHR. Demonstrate understanding of prescription control and refill procedures. Enter orders and schedule appointments appropriately in the Practice Management System (PMS) and EHR. Provide referrals and/or consult orders promptly in PMS and EHR. Adhere to universal safety precautions when administering medications and disposing of medical waste. Maintain proficiency with department‑specific equipment, troubleshoot and report malfunctions promptly. Facilitate transition of care to UCC/Hospital. Demonstrate flexibility with various work schedules. Perform all other duties as assigned. Recognize and perform duties that may not be directly assigned. Provide scribing services. Education, Certification, Computer & Training Requirements High School Graduate/GED or equivalent vocational/technical diploma; Associate Degree preferred. Graduated from an accredited medical assistant or phlebotomy program. 0–1 year related work experience required; 2–4 years preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire required. English communication (oral & written) required. Ability to organize and perform multiple tasks in a timely manner required. Basic computer proficiency required. Travel Ability to commute to satellite offices as needed is required. Pay Range $22.02 – $27.07 hourly.
