Faculty (Rank TBD) - Audiology

Primary Purpose Responsible for teaching and training audiology students along with the supervision of students at clinical training facilities. Potential for scholarly productivity including articles in referred journals, invited presentations, paper and/or poster presentations at state and regional meetings; active participation in professional audiology organizations at local and state levels. Must also participate in grants and research development. Essential Job Functions Teaches graduate course(s) in the classroom as assigned. Provides clinical supervision of students as assigned. Selects teaching and evaluation strategies appropriate to the students and setting. Presents ideas clearly. Creates a climate that is conducive to learning. Stimulates intellectual curiosity. Provides and maintains a reliable schedule of office hours for student advising, tutoring, remediation and consultation. Participates in department and college-wide committees and meetings. Engages in curriculum development related to current and new courses. Maintains a personal professional development plan, which may include research and/or other creative activities, to assure growth and currency within the academic field. Displays behavior consistent with professional ethics. Supervises students in the clinic. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the University's policies and applicable laws. Performs other duties as assigned or required. Job Requirements Appointment to the rank of professor requires a record of distinguished scholarship and outstanding teaching ability, evidenced by recognized professional productivity in the field(s) of specialization. Appointment to the rank of associate professor normally requires a record of substantial success in teaching, scholarship, and service. Appointment to the rank of assistant professor requires completion of professional training, which in most disciplines will be a terminal degree (usually the earned doctorate), and the clear promise of a successful career in teaching, scholarship and service. Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to students, public groups, and professionals. Ability to work with appropriate mathematical concepts specific to the particular discipline. Ability to apply concepts to practical situations. Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.) and to handle a variety of abstract and concrete variables simultaneously. Required Certifications/Licensures Eligible for licensure as an audiologist in the State of Florida. Required Education Doctoral Degree Required Experience Must be a graduate of an accredited audiology program. Five (5) years of clinical experience. Preferred Qualifications Terminal degree (Au.D., PhD, EdD) in an appropriate area of specialization.
