X-Lab Dev Ops Engineer - Secret Clearance

Description: What we're doing: Our team, the Command and Control, Battle Management and Communications (C2BMC) Experimentation Lab (X-LAB), is engineering, developing, and integrating new capabilities for the Missile Defense System that currently protects the United States and its allies. The team consists of many small agile teams that work together in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment. Our team is also responsible for tasks such as sensor/weapon integration, algorithm development, user interface development, automated testing, cyber security, and enhancing other critical, leading‑edge missile defense technologies. The Work: As a Dev Ops Engineer for the C2BMC Experimentation Lab (X‑Lab) at the Missile Defense Integration and Operations Center (MDIOC), Schriever SFB, Colorado Springs, you will be responsible for deploying, managing, and maintaining large scale on‑premise cloud and hyperconverged infrastructure solutions. The core focus of this role is the lifecycle management of containerized environments and infrastructure automation. Key responsibilities include: Deploying, maintaining, and managing the lifecycle of on‑premise cloud clusters Nutanix and/or Red Hat OpenShift. Managing and scaling enterprise Kubernetes clusters utilizing Nutanix Kubernetes Platform (NKP) and OpenShift. Deploying applications, services, and middleware using Helm charts and Kubernetes Operators. Utilizing Ansible for extensive infrastructure automation and configuration management. Designing, implementing, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure using GitLab and GitLab Runners. Tracking the impact of events and actions on the underlying infrastructure. Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and scientists to enable rapid, reliable testing of command‑and‑control capabilities. Please Note: This position requires a government security clearance at the Secret level; you must be a U.S. citizen for consideration. This position is located at Schriever, Space Force Base, 10 miles east of Colorado Springs, CO, and is 100% onsite. This position may involve some travel to customer sites throughout the U.S. and occasional support of test events that occur off‑hours (overnight or on weekends). Together, this national team supports the design, development, test integration, and fielding of hardware and software elements that enable the Missile Defense System (MDS) to function effectively and continually. You will interface with key customers in the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) and collaborate with a team of software and systems engineers, architects, and project engineers. Who You Are: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced candidate. The successful candidate will utilize strong communication and organizational skills to facilitate collaboration across the many organizations necessary to accomplish challenging missions. Basic Qualifications: Active Final SECRET clearance required prior to starting. DoD 8570 certification at IAT Level II or higher (e.g., Security+, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, CISSP, CISA, GSE, SCNA). Experience with Linux and Windows Server system administration. Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMWare, RedHat OpenStack, or Nutanix. Experience with scripting languages such as Bash, Python, PowerShell, or Ansible. Hands‑on experience managing Kubernetes clusters, preferably with Nutanix Kubernetes Platform (NKP) and OpenShift, including deploying applications and services using Helm charts and Kubernetes operators. Practical experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and supporting infrastructure using GitLab (including managing GitLab and runners). Desired Skills: Proven experience managing the lifecycle of Nutanix or Red Hat OpenShift clusters in an on‑premise environment. Strong background in automation and configuration management using Ansible. Experience with Windows Server and Active Directory integration in a cloud environment. Ability to track the impact of events/actions on the underlying infrastructure (e.g., patching and maintenance). Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance and you must be a U.S. citizen for consideration. Clearance Level: Secret Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position (depending on location) is $85,500 – $150,765. Salary reflects factors such as scope and responsibilities, candidate’s education and experience, and market conditions.
