Pharmacist

Pharmacists at Hannaford Supermarkets play a crucial role in providing exceptional customer service and ensuring the timely and accurate preparation of prescriptions. This position involves a variety of duties including greeting customers, assisting with prescription preparation, maintaining pharmacy records, and adhering to state and federal laws and regulations. The pharmacist is also responsible for maintaining pharmacy inventory, ensuring department cleanliness, and supporting company safety standards.

Key responsibilities include:

• Greeting all customers and providing prompt and courteous service
• Helping pharmacists prepare prescriptions with accurate data entry, retrieving, counting, or pouring medications, and labeling products
• Ensuring timely delivery of prescriptions to customers
• Maintaining pharmacy records in accordance with Standard Practice and by law
• Maintaining confidentiality of customer and company information
• Helping customers find over-the-counter items
• Following and adhering to attendance and paid time off policies
• Coordinating and assisting with scheduling
• Understanding and adhering to state specific and federal laws and regulations
• Assisting in maintaining pharmacy inventory, including ordering and returning products, stocking shelves, and proper separation and return of outdated product
• Maintaining knowledge of physical inventory procedures and assisting in the physical inventory process
• Reviewing and understanding ACIS reports
• Assisting in third-party audits as needed
• Sharing responsibility for department maintenance and cleanliness
• Maintaining and assisting with ordering pharmacy department supplies
• Observing, adhering, and understanding all company policies and Company Standard Practices
• Maintaining a neat, well-groomed personal appearance and complying with company personal appearance and pharmacy dress code policies
• Supporting company safety standards and communicating any needed equipment repairs or maintenance work
• Treating all co-workers with fairness, dignity, and respect
• Fostering a positive and enthusiastic environment to retain associates and customers
• Performing all other duties as assigned

Qualifications include:

• Successful completion of criminal background check and drug testing as required
• Maintain current national certification and state license as required
• Maintain advanced certifications (i.e., immunizer certification) and requirements
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Strong keyboard skills and a demonstrated ability to learn new software applications
• Effective time management skills and sense of urgency
• Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment
• Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Ability to multi-task in a stressful environment
• Must be able to work with minimal supervision to prioritize multiple minor projects while maintaining customer focus

• Open schedule availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays
• Desire and ability to learn all aspects of pharmacy operations including involvement with store leadership, scheduling, and other delegated duties
• Desire and ability to train other department associates in all areas pertaining to department operation
• Promote and participate in initiatives to grow the pharmacy business as required

Physical requirements include:

• Standing 100% of the shift with occasional walking short distances
• Use of computer, pharmacy filling equipment, and register 90% of time
• Use hands to frequently/continuously handle a variety of sizes of containers then manipulate individual pills/capsules and the equipment used to count them
• Clerical accuracy skills and mathematical skills including the ability to operate cash register
• Ability to use office supplies, communication devices, and computer systems frequently
• Frequent/continuous reaching, grasping, lifting, and carrying up to 20 lb. below the waist level and at or above shoulder level
• Bend at the knees and waist repetitively throughout the workday
• Have sufficient visual acuity and audio capability to process prescriptions and service customers

Salary range is between $21.80 - $29.00 hourly.
