Direct Support Professional (DSP)

Generations Day Program

Want meaningful work and a full-time schedule that mostly happens while the sun is still up?

PCGH is hiring multiple Direct Support Professionals for our Generations programs, where adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities and traumatic brain injuries spend their weekdays building skills, participating in activities, getting out into the community and doing the everyday things that make life more interesting.

This is hands-on work. You'll help people participate, communicate, make choices, stay healthy, work toward personal goals and receive the support they need throughout the day.

The schedule

Monday through Friday

Typically around 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Exact start and end times vary somewhat by program placement. Most days follow a predictable daytime schedule, but our work follows the needs of the people we support. Occasionally, that means staying a little beyond the scheduled end of the day to make sure care, transportation, communication or another client need is fully handled.

Starting Pay: $12.00+ per hour 
Higher starting rates may be available based on experience and placement. 

What a day at Generations can look like

• Support individuals with personal care, meals, routines and daily living skills
• Help people participate in activities, recreation and community outings
• Follow Individual Service Plans, medical instructions and other support guidelines
• Administer medications and treatments after completing required training and certification
• Recognize and report changes in health, behavior or support needs
• Complete service documentation accurately and on time
• Help maintain a safe, welcoming and organized program environment
• Work alongside other DSPs and clinical staff to provide consistent, thoughtful support

You do not need years of caregiving experience to be good at this. 

We provide paid training. What matters most is dependability, patience, good judgment, willingness to learn, comfort working directly with adults who may need significant assistance, and the ability to communicate clearly with the people around you.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent , be legally eligible to drive in North Carolina and be willing to drive an agency vehicle when needed.

The position may involve lifting up to 35 pounds independently and assisting with transfers of individuals weighing up to 250 pounds.
