Job Description

The Shop Helper assembles industrial safety interlocks used in manufacturing and machine safety applications, following detailed drawings and work instructions. This role focuses on precision mechanical and electro-mechanical assembly, configuration of key sequences to customer specifications, and thorough functional testing to ensure safe and reliable operation. The position requires careful documentation of production and quality information, adherence to safety and manufacturing procedures, and close collaboration with production, quality, and engineering teams.

Shift: 7:00am - 3:30pm

Responsibilities

• Assemble mechanical and electro-mechanical industrial safety interlocks according to engineering drawings and detailed work instructions.
• Configure key sequences to meet specific customer requirements and application needs.
• Perform functional testing and quality checks on assembled components to verify proper operation and safety performance.
• Use hand tools, power tools, and measuring equipment to achieve tight tolerances and precision assembly standards.
• Complete production and quality documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
• Follow all established safety, quality, and manufacturing procedures throughout the assembly process.
• Communicate assembly or quality issues promptly and collaborate with production, quality, and engineering teams to resolve them.
• Work efficiently in an assembly line environment, including repetitive tasks and packing activities as needed.
• Read and interpret basic assembly drawings and blueprints to guide assembly work.
• Maintain consistent and reliable attendance to support production schedules and team performance.

Essential Skills

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to perform manufacturing assembly tasks, including working with very small pieces and parts.
• Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and measuring equipment safely and effectively.
• Ability to read basic assembly drawings and follow detailed written and visual instructions.
• Strong attention to detail to meet tight tolerances and ensure high-quality assemblies.
• Problem-solving skills to identify and address assembly or functional issues.
• Comfort working in a repetitive, assembly line environment, including packing tasks.
• Reliable and consistent attendance.
• Basic mechanical aptitude, with experience preferred.
• At least 1 year of manufacturing assembly or mechanical experience preferred.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with precision assembly and inspection tools is a plus.
• Experience working with safety devices or safety interlock systems is a plus.
• Ability to interpret basic blueprints is beneficial.
• Comfort collaborating with production, quality, and engineering teams.
• Willingness to learn product-specific configurations, including mechanical interlocks, electro-mechanical interlocks, solenoid key release units, time delay key release units, transfer panels, and smart technology components.

Work Environment

This role operates on a first shift schedule from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with the expectation of being open to overtime when production needs require it. Work is performed in a manufacturing environment focused on industrial safety components, where precision and adherence to procedures are essential. The shop uses hand tools, power tools, measuring equipment, and specialized assembly and testing processes to produce mechanical and electro-mechanical safety interlocks, solenoid key release units, time delay key release units, transfer panels, and smart technology products. The environment emphasizes safe handling of small parts, consistent quality standards, and a structured, assembly line workflow. Lock Assembler | $19/hr | 1st shift

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of NORTH CANTON, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
