Job Summary: The Regional Security Manager provides security-related technical expertise to the Francophone Africa, Middle East and North Africa (MENA), and Central Asia regional Hubs. Serves as the primary advisor to country offices and regional Hubs leadership regarding security matters. Oversees the preparations for and response to security situations in the portfolio. Ensures adherence to organizational policies and procedures related to security, crisis response, emergency management, and duty of care. Serves on the HQ-based Crisis Management Team (CMT). Leverages extensive subject matter expertise to provide strategic guidance to country offices and regional Hubs, seeking ways to identify and address security risks in a manner that will support continued growth and innovation Preferred Locations: U.S. (EST), countries within Africa, MENA, Europe, and Asia. Accountabilities:
Base salary is only one component of our offer. FHI 360 contributes 7% of monthly base pay to a money purchase pension plan account. Additionally, all US based staff working full-time, which is calculated at 40 hours/week, receive 18 days of paid vacation per year, 12 sick days per year, and 11 holidays per year. Paid time off is reduced pro rata for employees working less than a full-time schedule.

- Serves as the primary resource for security issues within the assigned region.
- Manages and coordinates security programs within his portfolio.
- Serves as a member of the HQ-based CMT and takes the response lead role in incidents, emergencies, and crises affecting his region.
- Conducts and ensures the quality of security risk and threat assessments and prepares reports for country and project offices in the region.
- Supports business development by contributing security-related text and budget inputs to proposals being prepared for opportunities within the region - providing final sign-off on these security elements prior to submission.
- Develops and manages all security-related training programs for his region.
- Solicits, reviews, and approves country-level Security Management Plans and Emergency Action Plans for countries within the region on an annual and as-needed basis.
- Supports and mentors the country-level Incident Management Teams (IMT) and conducts regular check-ins with them.
- Monitors intelligence sources and disseminates security alerts and warnings to country and project leadership, IMTs, and travelers.
- Responsible for managing contracted security professionals and vendors supporting Hubs.
- Develops and establishes regional security policies and procedures.
- Provides advice and counsel to Hub leadership on matters relating to employee and property safety and security.
- Investigates risk management and public relations issues across the region.
- Complies with all applicable laws, statutes, or standards from regulatory and accrediting agencies within the region.
- Maintains good working relations with external agencies, including governmental and international agencies within the region (OSAC, INSO, UNDSS, PLSO, etc.).
- Works with country and project leadership to gain insight into local regulations pertaining to security.
- Adheres to and applies all aspects of security regulations in a consistent manner.
- Serves as backfill for other regional security managers and is available for special assignments outside their area of operations.
- Strong knowledge of current and emerging security technology, document control, and physical security.
- Comprehensive knowledge of INGO security best practices, the protective services industry, and government security directives.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated project management skills for long- and short-term projects.
- Ability to develop, administer, and evaluate security training.
- Ability to plan, coordinate, and direct the work of others in discharging the protective services mission.
- Ability to work with external agencies, including governmental and international agencies.
- Articulate, professional, and able to communicate in a clear, positive manner with clients and staff.
- Ability to work effectively in a regional team environment and work closely and communicate clearly with all offices, operating groups, and departments.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English.
- French language proficiency preferred.
- Responds quickly and effectively to crisis situations occurring in the international arena.
- Initiates and facilitates changes to improve security services through effective communication, collaboration and interdisciplinary problem solving.
- Stays abreast of social, cultural, legal, and criminal issues, nationally and internationally, and their impact on the organization and its business.
- Decisions and actions have a significant impact on management and regional/corporate operations.
- Manages unit goals and activities in conjunction with sound security and management concepts.
- Provide technical supervision to the security professionals and security focal points at the country level.
- Supports performance management and professional development of security professionals at the country level, including ongoing feedback, coaching, and career support.
- Provides direction and guidance in maintaining security services and protection.
- Articulate, professional, and able to communicate in a clear, positive manner with clients and staff.
- Represents Global Security at all requested or required functions.
- Bachelor's Degree or International Equivalent in Criminal Justice, Homeland Security, Security Administration, Conflict Resolution, or a similar field. Master's Degree preferred.
- Typically requires a minimum of 8+ years of security experience in corporate or government organizations or military asset protection programs.
- Demonstrated experience with implementing security strategies, policies, procedures, and standards.
- Demonstrated experience with risk management and contract and vendor negotiations.
- Prior work in a non-governmental organization (NGO).

- Typical office environment.
- Ability to spend long hours looking at computer screen and doing repetitive work on a keyboard.
