Deputy ACOS

The VA Midwest Health Care Network advocates for a Whole Health System of care in each of the Medical Centers. As the Deputy ACOS, the physician is the second for the ACOS and is responsible for assuming the direct authority of the ACOS in the event of the ACOS's absence or when otherwise needed to do so.

Plans, implements, and provides clinical and administrative oversight to Mental Health activities across the service line including requirements for staff, budget, equipment, and supplies.

Has direct professional supervision of staff within the same discipline.

Has programmatic oversight and shared responsibility for the Mental Health Service Line.

Responsibilities include supervision of staff, program management, and administrative responsibilities that are complex in scope and cover a significant portion of the medical center.

The employee will provide treatment for beneficiaries with general mental health disorders in a variety of treatment settings, including tele-mental health. The employee must be skilled in treating mental health disorders.

Meets the needs of customers while supporting VA missions. Consistently communicates and treats customers (veterans, their representatives, visitors, and all VA staff) in a courteous, tactful, and respectful manner. Provides the customer with consistent information according to established policies and procedures. Handles conflict and problems in dealing with the customer constructively and appropriately.

Recruitment Incentive: Recruitment/Relocation Incentive may be authorized for highly qualified candidates

Education Debt Reduction Program (Student Loan Repayment): This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases

Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of annual paid time offer per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)

Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA

Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 7:30am-4:00pm. Alternative work hours, if desired, should be agreed upon at the time of hire.
