HVAC Truck Based Chiller Journeyman Mechanic (union)

What you will do Johnson Controls Inc. is looking for forward‑thinking talent to join our organization to support the fast‑growing HVAC business in North America. Responsibilities Provide our customers with the highest level of service to solve facility inefficiencies. Act as a trusted advisor to our customers, providing solutions and outcomes at the time of commissioning and aftermarket service. Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure a facility is running efficiently, including upselling opportunities. Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions. Pass a knowledge examination to assess proficiencies. Travel may be required 10% to 20% to support Branch customers’ startup, commissioning activities and aftermarket service trouble shooting. What we look for / Required Qualities Member or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada, AFL‑CIO. Dedicated member of a North America Branch team willing to learn and be responsible for startup, commissioning, and aftermarket services. Minimum of twelve (12) years of practical experience on air‑cooled and/or water‑cooled chillers, industrial chillers, AHUs or large roof‑top ducted units, with strong HVAC/mechanical troubleshooting experience. Ability to lead large complex repairs, jobs, or retrofits. Able to repair centrifugal compressors, steam turbines, absorption chillers, screw chillers and/or ammonia/hydrocarbon system components. Maintain ammonia and hydrocarbon safety training certification. Extensive experience in HVAC systems (chilled water loops, pumping, compressor enthalpy, compressor troubleshooting and rebuild). Mechanical shaft alignment using dial indicators, lasers, etc. of pumps, fans, compressors. Able to use vibration equipment to troubleshoot compressor drivelines. Proficient in the operations, troubleshooting and repair of large tonnage chiller 460 VAC VSDs and medium voltage 4160 VAC VSDs. Proficient in multiple OEM chiller panels and controllers. Able to troubleshoot industrial Allen Bradley control systems and adjust. Opportunity to invest in career development with training programs to gain knowledge in HVAC products and sales quoting. Will work with other local market mechanics and provide on‑job training and/or lead classroom training for other technicians. Attention to detail through interpersonal, digital, and written skills. Able to write and communicate to the customer the problem, cause, and corrective actions. Able to provide quotes to customers and participate in JCI’s Service Plus Rewards program. Self‑starter with a passion/desire to learn and apply knowledge on the job. Prioritize safety in all forms. Universal EPA refrigerants license, applicable state or local licensing, and a valid driver’s license. Pay Range Pay Range: $34.87 hourly rate, determined by the CBA/rate sheet.
