Job Title

Registered Nurse – Cardiac Progressive Care / Telemetry

Location

Wausau, WI | Acute Care

Schedule / Job Type

Contract (13 Weeks) | 36 Hours Per Week | Night Shift (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | Onsite | Every other weekend and every other holiday required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a 44-bed intermediate cardiac stepdown unit with a high patient turnover and a typical 1:4 patient ratio
• Manage complex cardiac patients including post-op CABG/valve, thoracotomy, vascular, arrhythmia, CHF, post-procedure cath, pacer, defibrillation, ablations, acute chest pain/MI, and med/surg overflow (e.g., detox, DKA, COPD exacerbation, respiratory failure, Fem Pop Bypass)
• Administer and monitor vasoactive and cardiac drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Nitroglycerin
• Float to all inpatient units as needed
• Document accurately using electronic health record systems
• Pass an EKG competency test during the first week of hire

Required Qualifications

• Active Wisconsin RN License required
• BLS and ACLS certification required (AHA or ARC)
• Minimum 1 year of strong cardiac experience in a Cardiac SDU, Intermediate Cardiac, or Cardiac ICU setting
• Minimum 2 years of IMC/PCU/Telemetry experience required
• Demonstrated experience with Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Nitroglycerin drips — candidates without this experience cannot advance in the interview process
• Minimum 1 year of recent Epic charting experience required
• At least one prior travel assignment must have been completed

• Ability to work independently, manage tasks efficiently, and adapt well to change
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to integrate into a team-oriented unit culture
