As a DSP at L'Arche Erie, you will support adults with disabilities in daily tasks, fostering a home of trust, care, and mutual growth.Desire to work with, to learn from, and to relate to people with intellectual disabilitiesDesire to work in an inclusive and diverse communityIndependence, initiative and professionalism as demonstrated by:Ability to work cooperatively and constructively as part of a teamAbility to take responsibility for health and safety of othersAbility to work with individuals of different religious affiliation, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, etc.Qualifications:Valid driver's licenseAbility to fulfill a flexible schedule, including weekendsAbility to lift at least 40 lbs. and transfer individualsSatisfactory criminal background checkHigh School diploma or equivalentDuties and responsibilities (training is provided):Supports individuals with disabilities in:Personal care needs (clothing, hygiene, eating, etc.), money management, medical care, appointments, family and work connections, household chores, laundry, medications, meal preparation, transportationTrack individuals' goals, support plans and outcomes; documenting information as neededCommunicating and self-advocating effectively with doctors and other professionalsParticipates on a team, including sharing responsibility for:Household maintenance, housekeeping, laundry, cleaning, meal prep, property upkeep, shopping, and household financial managementScheduled routinesRegularly scheduled meetingsBuilds a relationship of mutual care and support with people with disabilitiesObserves the rights and personal dignity of othersFosters a home life of unity, mutual respect, and participation by all membersLearns and implements the policies and procedures of L'ArcheAssists in the implementation of Individualized Support Plans and adheres to state regulationsCommunicates and advocates effectively with doctors and other professionalsParticipates in the functions and life of the communityCompletes other duties as assignedSchedules are based on the needs of the individuals and their homes.
