Geotechnical EngineerExpress Employment Professionals is recruiting for an experienced Senior to Principal-Level Geotechnical Engineer on behalf of a respected engineering client in Montana. This leadership role offers the opportunity to oversee complex geotechnical projects, mentor team members, support business growth, and work with clients across Montana and the western United States.Salary Range: $125,000 – $175,000 annually, depending on experience, qualifications, and other factors.Position SummaryThe Geotechnical Engineer will provide technical leadership and project management throughout all phases of geotechnical engineering projects. This role includes managing field investigations, geotechnical analyses, engineering design, reporting, quality assurance, client relations, and business development efforts. The successful candidate will play a key role in growing regional geotechnical services while maintaining high standards of technical excellence and safety.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and manage geotechnical engineering projects from proposal through completion.Oversee geotechnical field investigations, testing programs, and engineering analyses.Prepare and review technical reports, calculations, recommendations, and design documents.Perform geotechnical design and analysis using current industry software.Provide geotechnical quality control inspection and documentation on construction projects.Mentor, supervise, and support engineering and technical staff.Build and maintain strong client relationships through professional communication and project delivery.Assist with business development efforts and support growth of key client accounts.Ensure compliance with industry standards, project requirements, and workplace health and safety practices.Coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams and stakeholders.Qualifications10–20+ years of professional geotechnical engineering experience.Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel.Experience preparing engineering plans, specifications, and technical documents for a variety of projects.Extensive knowledge of geotechnical design principles, analysis methods, and applicable software.Familiarity with geotechnical laboratory testing and construction materials testing.Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.Professional Engineer (PE) license in Montana, or ability to obtain licensure through reciprocity.HAZWOPER and/or MSHA certifications are preferred.Education RequirementsBachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Civil Engineering with a Geotechnical or Materials emphasis, Geological Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.What We're Looking ForThe ideal candidate is a proven technical leader who is passionate about delivering high-quality engineering solutions, developing client relationships, and contributing to the growth of a successful geotechnical practice.Apply TodayIf you are an experienced Geotechnical Engineer seeking a leadership opportunity with a well-established local employer, we encourage you to apply through Express Employment Professionals.Express Employment Professionals is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
