Senior Accountant for Finance

Nashville General Hospital is hiring for a Senior Accountant for Finance as a full-time job in Nashville, Tennessee. The Senior Accountant is primarily responsible for the coordination of accounting functions in the department including maintaining the General Ledger and supporting schedules, assisting with payroll and budget preparation, and maintaining required records and reports. This position also performs monthly financial analyses, coordinates month-end closing processes, and assists in the preparation of monthly financial reports.

Senior Accountant Roles and Responsibilities:

• Performs accounting duties in a proficient and efficient manner. This includes the maintenance and reconciliation of General Ledger accounts.
• Manages fixed assets, Nashville General Hospital Foundation, payroll (including checks and ACH), and vendor payments and taxes as assigned.
• Maintains schedules and posts appropriate journal entries to GL. Reconciles GL account to schedules for assigned accounts.
• Prepares and presents reports for assigned departments, including monthly expense and productivity variance reports.
• Research, analyze, prepare, and reconcile data for assigned department budgets.
• Reconciles lease schedules to GL and posts any correcting journal entries.
• Assists in the preparation of monthly financial reports.
• Assists in designing meaningful and realistic action plans for the implementation of process improvement ideas. Performs monitoring of throughput metrics as needed.
• Ensures assigned accounts are reconciled in a timely manner and prepared for year-end audit.
• Maintains accounting records in an orderly and neat fashion.
• Works closely with Accounts Payable for proper accruals.
• Serves as a facilitator and analyst to assigned hospital departments/teams on the use of process improvement tools and analytical techniques, and statistical applications.
• Assists in year-end and other audits as needed.
• Trains others on various aspects of accounting procedures as needed.
• Serves as back-up for Treasury Manager functions.
• All other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• 3 years Accounting experience required.
• Proficient in independent account reconciliation without direction or training.
• Demonstrates a consistent strong capacity to work autonomously, while also effectively following guidance from team members.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field strongly preferred. Associate's degree with significant relevant experience may be substituted for Bachelor's Degree.
• Multiview/Oracle experience preferred.
• Hospital Accounting experience preferred.
