Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist - CRNA

**Job Specific Duties and Responsibilities:**

- Oversee and manage the anesthesia care of patients independently, without direct supervision from a physician. This includes performing comprehensive preoperative evaluations and preparations, administering various forms of anesthesia (monitored anesthesia care, regional, general, and neuraxial), and adeptly monitoring and responding to patients' reactions during both anesthesia and surgical procedures. Responsibilities also include fluid management, invasive monitoring, and executing post-operative assessments as authorized by the MTF Credentials Committee.

- Conduct thorough pre-anesthetic assessments, which comprise obtaining informed consent from patients, soliciting necessary consultations and/or diagnostic testing, and ordering any required pre-anesthetic medications.

- Independently formulate and implement a tailored anesthetic plan. 

- Execute an assessment immediately prior to the induction of anesthesia, including a meticulous review of the patient’s medical records for completeness, relevant laboratory results, and ensuring accurate documentation of pre-anesthesia medication administration. This evaluation should also consider any changes in the patient's condition compared to previous assessments, alongside any noted anesthetic histories and complications.

- Ensure the maintenance of the patient’s physiological homeostasis and address any abnormal responses to anesthesia and/or surgical intervention.

- Collect and analyze patient physiological data through the selection, application, or insertion of non-invasive monitoring techniques.

- Manage the patient's airway and respiratory function.

- Supervise the patient’s emergence from anesthesia, focusing on stabilizing homeostasis, alleviating pain and side effects associated with anesthesia, and preemptively managing any complications through the judicious selection and administration of medications, fluids, or ventilatory support.

**Schedule Overview:**

- The MOMMC operates around the clock, seven days a week, as an inpatient treatment facility.

- **Shift Structure:** Daily shifts commence at 0630 and may vary in duration (8, 10, or 12 hours) based on surgical and patient care demands. All shifts include a minimum of a 30-minute uncompensated lunch break.

- **Schedule Management:** Shift assignments are determined by the Government supervisor.

**Minimum Qualifications:**

**Education:** Hold a Master's or Doctoral degree in nursing, with graduation from a program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Programs (COA).

- **Experience:** Must meet clinical competency requirements as specified in the CRNA/anesthesia-specific credentialing guidelines, including a minimum of 2 years of active CRNA practice, with recent clinical experience (within the last 6 months). Practice must have included direct involvement in cases of General Anesthesia and Obstetric (Neuraxial) Anesthesia.

- **Board Certification:** Must possess current certification as a Registered Nurse Anesthetist from the National Board for Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA) and hold an active RN License and CRNA License from any U.S. state.

- **Licensure:** Maintain a current, unrestricted RN License issued by any state.

- **Life Support Certification:** Required certifications include current Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Advanced Life Support (ALS), Pediatric Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), and Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS). BLS/ACLS/ALS/PALS certifications must adhere to the standards set by the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.

- **Security Clearance:** Must successfully pass a government background check and obtain security clearance.
