Work involves disassembly design, assembly, repair and maintenance of a variety of metal and nonmetal materials and equipment. Duties include fabricating structures from blueprints and sketches, operating heavy vehicles and construction equipment and providing oversight to others engaged in performing welding duties. Work is performed under general supervision. Preference will be given to individuals who possess welding/fabrication experience on heavy construction vehicles.To be minimally qualified for this position candidates must provide evidence of the following experience:Two (2) years experience, education, and/or training in welding, metal fabrication, and/or related field which provides a basic knowledge of metallurgical science, blueprint interpretation, programing and operation of computer-controlled machines, welding techniques, and joining methods.Licensing/Registration/Certification Requirements:Must obtain a State of Maine Class B CDL with air endorsements and pass the MaineDOT Welder Certification as a condition of successfully completing probation.Under federal law, only U.S. Citizens, Permanent Residents, or H-2A, H-2B, or E-2 visa holders will be eligible for new or renewed CDLs.
