Position Summary/Job Description

Job Title: System Administrator

Job Overview: We are seeking a skilled and motivated System Administrator to join our team. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining and enhancing our server infrastructure, with a focus on Windows Servers from 2012 R2 to 2019. You will collaborate with our existing team and actively participate in a significant project involving the migration of legacy systems to the Best Buy Health Environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Server Infrastructure Management:
• Learn and comprehensively understand the Physical and Virtual Server infrastructure.
• Assist in the day-to-day management and maintenance of the server environment.
• Manage Windows Servers (2012 R2 through 2019), ensuring their optimal performance, security, and reliability.
• Work within a VMWare environment, provisioning, and maintaining virtual servers.
• Project Support:
• Contribute to a major project involving the migration of legacy systems to the Best Buy Health Environment.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure the successful execution of project tasks.
• Basic Networking and Database Knowledge:
• Possess a fundamental understanding of networking principles in a server infrastructure.
• Manage and troubleshoot servers in a networked environment.
• Have a basic grasp of database concepts as they relate to server operation.
• Documentation and Communication:
• Create and maintain technical documentation for server configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
• Effectively communicate your thought process and methodologies when working on projects.

Qualifications

Minimum of two years of experience working with Windows Servers (2012 R2 to 2019) and VMWare. Basic understanding of server infrastructure, networking, and database concepts. Proficient in server maintenance, including patching and performance optimization. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts clearly. Comfortable with technical documentation and process-oriented tasks.

Additional Information

This is a contract position that is mostly remote, with some on-site days if you are local to one of the local sites.
