Job Title: Sanitation Worker / Machine Operator (3rd Shift)

Job Description

This role combines sanitation and machine operation responsibilities in a cold food production facility. You will clean and sanitize production areas and equipment according to strict food safety standards, dismantle and reassemble machinery for thorough cleaning, and operate packaging equipment to ensure products meet quality specifications. The position requires comfort with repetitive tasks, mechanical aptitude, and working overnight hours with regular overtime.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize the production facility, equipment, and surrounding areas in accordance with food safety guidelines and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).

• Dismantle production equipment for cleaning, ensuring all parts are properly cleaned, sanitized, and reassembled correctly.

• Use cleaning chemicals at proper concentrations following company procedures and food safety standards.

• Label, store, and maintain all chemicals safely and accurately to comply with company guidelines.

• Disconnect machinery from its power source when performing cleaning, minor repairs, or assisting with maintenance, following lockout/tagout and safety procedures as directed.

• Remove garbage and waste materials from the building and transport them safely to designated dumpsters or waste areas.

• Maintain housekeeping standards throughout the production plant and warehouse, keeping floors, workstations, and equipment clean and organized.

• Follow all company safety guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment, safe chemical handling, and adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices.

• Continuously load and fill machines with lids, plastic films, and other packaging materials to keep production running smoothly.

• Load machines using a lift or similar equipment as required, handling materials safely and efficiently.

• Operate packaging machinery and monitor performance to ensure products are packaged according to quality, safety, and conformity standards.

• Help assemble, configure, and adjust machines according to current product specifications and production requirements.

• Perform repetitive tasks with attention to detail and consistency, maintaining productivity throughout the shift.

• Communicate any equipment issues, safety concerns, or quality problems to the appropriate personnel in a timely manner.

Essential Skills

• Ability to clean and sanitize production facilities and equipment according to food safety guidelines and Good Manufacturing Practices.

• Mechanical aptitude and ability to dismantle, clean, and reassemble production equipment correctly.

• Comfort working with and around cleaning chemicals, including following instructions for proper concentration and usage.

• Ability to label, handle, and store chemicals safely in line with company procedures.

• Capability to operate packaging machinery and monitor product quality and conformity.

• Comfort with repetitive tasks while maintaining accuracy, focus, and productivity.

• Ability to use lifts or similar equipment to load machines safely.

• Willingness and ability to work 3rd shift (11:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.), Monday through Friday, with regular overtime on weekends.

• Comfort working 6 days a week, including every Saturday, with occasional Sunday work when needed.

• Ability to work in a cold environment around 40 degrees Fahrenheit for the entire shift.

• Strong adherence to safety guidelines, including safe equipment operation and proper use of personal protective equipment.

• Capability to work on wet, slippery floors and in areas with food odors while maintaining safety and cleanliness.

This is a Contract position based out of VISTA, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.60 - $20.60/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
