JW Hicks, Inc. is an American manufacturing/design company located in Northern Indiana specializing in high technology ceramic products for the metals industry. Currently we are looking to add a Technical Service Representative to our team. This person will serve as primary contact for customers regarding products and services supplied by JW Hicks. The ideal candidate is someone with a strong mechanical aptitude, the ability to troubleshoot technical problems, the ability to communicate with various customers in either technical details or layman’s terms and has a heart for “Doing it Right.”

Primary Responsibilities

• Ensure proper use of JWHI products on customer site
• Respond to product performance issues; troubleshoot problems in conjunction with JWHI Engineering and Application groups
• Maintain and develop customer relationships
• Encourage/teach customers to follow proper standard operating procedures and safety features

Minimum Qualifications

• 2-year technical degree or equivalent experience
• Ability and willingness to travel up to 35% of the time
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Familiarity with ISO standards
• Basic computer literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access)
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to relate to all levels of the customer organization
• Ability and willingness to learn

Preferred Qualifications

• 4-year degree in Technical System Management, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent area of study
• 2 years’ Industry experience (shipyard, steel mill, or some other manufacturing plant/factory experience)
• Competence in interpreting mechanical drawings
• Steel flow control experience beneficial
• Ability to use computer software to analyze data and produce reports
• Ability to use precision measuring equipment
• Report Writing Skills
• Understanding of statistics and process control
• Familiarity with OSHA industrial safety standards
