Registered Prof Nurse III-Intensive Care Unit

LOCATION : KONA COMMUNITY HOSPITAL | Med-Surg Intensive Care POSITION STATUS: 0.30 | Temporary-Casual Hire SALARY RANGE: BU79 | SR20 SALARY RATE: $57.25 (Hourly) based on the FTE JOB DUTIES: The Intensive Care Unit provides services with specially trained nursing staff and support resources for patients requiring critical care on a concentrated and continuous basis. The ICU monitors infectious patients, trauma patients, post-op ICU patients, and patients with substance abuse problems and/or conduct disorders of all ages. The Registered Professional Nurse coordinates nursing care for patients, participates in patient and family teaching, and provides leadership by working cooperatively with other staff and departments in maintaining standards of nursing care; follows established policies, procedures, or specific instructions. This position may be required to work shifts, weekends, and holidays.
THE MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS ARE: Applicants must meet all of the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated; the required education and experiences may not be gained concurrently. In addition, qualifying work experiences are based on a 40-hour work week. EDUCATION: Applicants must have graduated from an accredited school of nursing. NURSING EXPERIENCE: One-half (1/2) year of progressively responsible professional nursing work experience in an intensive care setting where the employee independently provided nursing care to patients. Such experience must have been gained within the last two (2) years.
CERTIFICATION: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Health Care Worker required at the time of appointment, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification are required within six (6) months of employment. Critical Care Course (CCRN) preferred; Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) preferred.
QUALITY OF EXPERIENCE: Possession of the required number of years of experience will not in itself be accepted as proof of qualification for a position. The applicant's overall experience must have been of such scope and level of responsibility as to conclusively demonstrate that he/she has the ability to perform the duties of the position for which he/she is being considered.
LICENSE REQUIRED: License to practice as a professional nurse in the State of Hawaii.
