Custodial Manager

SSC – 3rd Shift Custodial Manager – Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, VA Pay 11 – Salary: $60,000–$65,000 Job Summary Unit Director responsible for overall cleanliness, sanitation and security of assigned buildings. Coordinates janitorial staff work activities, supervises, trains, inspects, and manages equipment, supplies, inventory, safety, and budget issues. Acts as liaison between building occupants, managers and janitorial personnel to ensure high quality service and customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities Communicate between shifts to ensure task completion. Train workers in janitorial methods, procedures and equipment operation. Issue supplies and equipment to staff. Perform daily inspections and follow through on all assignments. Cross‑train and develop personnel for multiple positions. Prepare weekly staff reports and inspections. Meet with staff weekly to review task completion and future projects. Secure building after completion of work. Guide project completion within time and budget. Report budgetary issues. Preferred Qualifications College degree preferred. 1–2 years as supervisor in housekeeping or service‑related field with strong customer/client contact. Strong work ethic, drive, initiative for quality and customer service. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong problem‑solving skills in one‑on‑one and group situations. Ability to engage and motivate staff. Understanding of budgeting processes and profit‑loss concepts. Excellent administrative, organizational and prioritization skills. Excellent time‑management skills. Ability to work with heavy cleaning equipment.
