PRODUCE - PRODUCE CLERK POSITION OVERVIEW An employee in this position is responsible for preparing, packaging, displaying, pricing, and merchandising any and all fresh produce and other items maintained within the department. This employee informs customers about fresh produce andother produce items. GENERAL DESCRIPTION/DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS · Provides friendly and prompt service to customers · Answers questions and assists with locating products by taking a customer directly to said products · Answer questions from customers about produce products in a professional manner · Proper stocking and rotation of merchandise · Performs tasks such as, but not limited to: trimming, watering, packaging, weighing, labeling and merchandising of products to ensure fresh, high quality offerings · Ensures cleanliness of produce aisles, storage areas, and work areas; includes but is not limited to: cleaning/organization of shelves and products, keeping floors free of spills, removing hazardous debris from floor, sweeping/mopping. · Responsible for proper inventory control to maximize product freshness and availability · Monitors product and supply inventories and notifies manager when product levels are low or empty · Stocks, fills, faces products and displays · Ensures labeling and pricing accuracy · Is aware of case/cooler temperatures and communicates any concerns regarding proper temperatures or safety · Ensures all equipment is in working order and safe; alerts management when safety or cleanliness is a concern · Assists in the unloading and proper storage of deliveries · Receives and inspects deliveries to ensure proper inventory and accuracy · Follows proper housekeeping and cleaning standards · Maintains clean, safe and sanitary produce area and equipment. · Requires operating and using equipment such as, but not limited to, knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks, carts, and labeling machines · Keeps up to date on new products · Walks department regularly to ensure an organized, sanitary, and overall clean appearance at all times · Maintains a positive work environment with fellow employees throughout the store · Maintains excellent communication with managers · Expected to assist other departments as needed · Expected to be familiar with the entire store and it's layout to ensure top customer service · Expected to monitor cleanliness and safety throughout the entire store · Other related duties as assigned KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES · Requires strong attention to detail · Ability to read, write and count · Excellent communication skills in order to ensure excellent customer service · Outgoing, friendly, neat and professional · Able to provide and receive constructive feedback · Reliable and dependable; able to work flexible schedule · Ability to interact effectively at all levels and across diverse cultures · Ability to solve practical problems. · Ability to perform repetitious activities · Ability to operate equipment; including, but not limited to, scales and wrappers EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE · Must be attending high school or have a high school diploma or equivalent · 1-2 years experience working in a Produce Department setting preferred but not necessary Qualifications: TBD per position Requirements: Requires standing, walking, bending, and/or climbing throughout the entire workday Repetitive arm and hand movements; bending, carrying, and lifting Requires transferring product either horizontally or vertically of up to 50 pounds Weekend, evening, and holiday work will be required; flexible store assignments and hours Job Overview Date Posted: May 15, 2026 Location: West Seneca 940 Union RoadWest Seneca, NY 14224 Click here ( Union Road, West Seneca, NY, 14224&zoom=14&size=512x512&maptype=roadmap&sensor=false) to view on map.
