Cook

Prepares and cooks family style meals for residents and employees of the facility by performing the following duties:

Cooks food in quantities according to menu and number of persons to be served. Washes dishes.

Cooks food according to recipes.

Prepares cooks and serves food according to different diet orders.

Bakes breads and pastry. Cuts meats.

Serves meals.

Stores leftover food items in refrigerator and freezer date and label all food items.

Follows cleaning schedule.

Wears hair nets at all times.

Informs supervisor when a food item or kitchen supply is running low.

Maintains personal hygiene of self and uniforms.

Maintains clean work area.

Wears gloves at all times while handling any food.

Documents freezer and refrigerator temperature.

Prepares and/or pulls food needed for the following day.

Cleans and sanitizes work area after using.

Cleans equipment according to departmental schedule.

Keeps records, i.e. inventory, meal counts, etc., as well receiving deliveries and giving records of delivery to the Dietary Supervisor.

Directs activities of one or more workers who assist in preparing and serving meals.

Follows and enforces the use of sanitary regulations governing handling, preparation and serving of foods.

Follows and enforces guidelines for the wearing of personal protection equipment during usage of cleaning supplies.
