School Security Officer

Overview We are seeking a dedicated and vigilant individual to join our team as a School Security Officer at Prospect Heights Middle. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of students, staff, and visitors on campus. This full-time position requires a proactive approach to maintaining a safe learning environment, effective communication skills, and the ability to respond to emergencies with composure and efficiency. Responsibilities Monitor and patrol school premises to ensure the safety and security of students, staff, and visitors. Respond promptly to any incidents, emergencies, or suspicious activities, and take appropriate action in accordance with established protocols. Collaborate with school administration, staff, and local law enforcement to develop and implement safety policies and procedures. Conduct regular inspections of school facilities and grounds to identify potential security risks and recommend improvements. Provide a visible security presence to deter inappropriate behavior and promote a positive school environment. Assist in the enforcement of school rules and regulations, addressing conflicts and disciplinary issues as needed. Conduct investigations into incidents, prepare detailed reports, and maintain accurate records of security activities. Organize and participate in safety drills and training sessions for staff and students. Serve as a resource for students and staff, providing guidance and support in matters related to safety and security. Attend staff meetings and collaborate with other school personnel to enhance overall school safety. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in security or law enforcement is a plus. Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred. Strong observational and problem-solving skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with students, staff, and parents. Knowledge of safety and security protocols, emergency response procedures, and conflict resolution techniques. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed. Must pass a background check and comply with all local, state, and federal regulations regarding school security. Certification in first aid, CPR, and AED preferred or willingness to obtain within a specified timeframe. Physical ability to perform security duties, including walking, standing for extended periods, and responding to emergencies. #J-18808-Ljbffr
