Custodial Operations

Job Summary


Perform a wide variety of activities related to the processing, storage, distribution and transport of equipment and material.

Responsibilities

• Deliver equipment and material to campus department
• Deliver a wide variety of items to different locations throughout the University
• Follow routes and time schedule
• Load, unload, prepare, inspect and operate a delivery vehicle
• Complete work logs
• Operate delivery vehicles, forklifts and other warehouse equipment
• Utilize material handling equipment and/or physical hand load and unload material on delivery vehicle
• Manage accountability for all items loaded, delivered, signed for and returning delivery paperwork (signed and dated) to Central Receiving, Archiving and Records, and Property Control
• Develop and maintain open communication with departmental personnel to facilitate timely and efficient on campus delivery of equipment and material
• Regularly check warehouse vehicles for fluid levels, proper tire pressure and cleanliness; report potential safety issues or service needs
• Maintain clean and accident-free work space
• Obey and enforce safety standards, policies, and procedures
• Assist any staff member, faculty, student or visitor of Georgia Southern University, as appropriate

Required Qualifications


Educational Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent

Other Required Qualifications

• Forklift certified or obtain forklift certification within six (6) months of employment

Required Experience

• One (1) or more years of related work experience
• Experience in driving flatbed trucks

Preferred Qualifications


Preferred Educational Qualifications

• Associate's Degree

Preferred Experience

• Three (3) or more years of related work experience

Proposed Salary


$15.84 - $17.24 per hour

This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis.

ABILITIES

• Consistently exhibit engaging customer service
• Ability to support various constituencies served by the University
• Proven proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office, Google, and/or applications as required for specific position
• Ability to operate forklift, service vehicle and 2.5 ton flatbed truck with hydraulic lift
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively

KNOWLEDGE

• Adhere to University policies and procedures to meet Institutional goals and support University's mission for student success

SKILLS

• Effective communication (verbal and written), organizational and human relations skills
