Physician - Family and Community Health, Family Medicine Physician (Open Rank/Track Faculty)

The Department of Family and Community Medicine at The Ohio State University College of Medicine seeks a board-certified or board-eligible family medicine physician to join our faculty on the Clinician Scholar Pathway. This position is intended for physician-scholars who are committed to advancing family medicine through a combination of excellent clinical care, teaching, scholarship, and innovation. The successful candidate will maintain an active clinical practice while contributing substantially to the department's academic mission through research, quality improvement, implementation science, medical education scholarship, population health initiatives, health services research, or other scholarly activities aligned with primary care.

The successful candidate will develop and lead a focused program of scholarship with measurable impact in family medicine and primary care. Faculty are expected to contribute to peer-reviewed scholarship, collaborate across disciplines, mentor learners, pursue external funding opportunities, and disseminate scholarly work through publications, presentations, and other academic venues. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to integrate clinical practice with scholarship and build a recognized area of expertise that advances patient care, healthcare delivery, medical education, or population health.

Faculty will practice within a collaborative, team-based primary care environment that includes physicians, trainees, pharmacists, social workers, behavioral health specialists, and other interdisciplinary partners. Academic rank, clinical effort, and scholarly responsibilities will be commensurate with the candidate's experience, accomplishments, and career trajectory.

Required Qualifications

• MD, DO, or equivalent medical degree.
• Completion of an accredited Family Medicine residency program.
• Board certified or board eligible in Family Medicine.
• Eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in the State of Ohio.
• Demonstrated experience in scholarly activity relevant to academic family medicine, including clinical research, health services research, quality improvement, implementation science, population health, medical education scholarship, or a related discipline.
• Record of scholarly dissemination through peer-reviewed publications, presentations, educational products, or other evidence of academic contribution.
• Experience teaching, mentoring, or supervising medical students, residents, fellows, or other healthcare learners.
• Demonstrated ability to integrate clinical practice with scholarly activity.
• Eligibility for appointment at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor rank within the College of Medicine.

Preferred Qualifications

• Established record of peer-reviewed publications demonstrating sustained scholarly productivity.
• Experience serving as principal investigator, co-principal investigator, co-investigator, project lead, or in an equivalent leadership role on research, quality improvement, implementation science, population health, health services research, or medical education initiatives.
• Experience obtaining, managing, or contributing to externally funded grants or contracts from governmental, foundation, industry, or other funding sources.
• Demonstrated leadership of interdisciplinary research, quality improvement, clinical innovation, or healthcare transformation initiatives.
• Experience translating scholarship into measurable improvements in clinical quality, patient outcomes, healthcare delivery, education, or population health.
• Evidence of regional or national recognition within an area of scholarly expertise.
• Experience mentoring trainees, junior faculty, researchers, or quality improvement teams.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and sustain an independent or collaborative program of scholarship while maintaining an active clinical practice in family medicine.
