About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 48 Experience: 1-2 years required License: State licensure required Certifications: BLS ACLS NIHSS Must-Have: Travelers must pass an EKG competency exam prior to arrival. Description: This position involves caring for patients with complex medical conditions such as respiratory failure, CVA, DKA, sepsis, and patients recovering from various surgical procedures. Nurses will be required to manage cardiac drips, including some vasopressor and insulin drips. The role also includes managing and pulling venous sheaths, central line management, tracheostomies, chest tubes, feeding tubes, and Bipap. Wound care and blood product administration are also part of the responsibilities. Nurses will work closely in a supportive environment with charge nurses who may also take patient assignments. Phlebotomy and resource nursing support are available on the unit. A hospitalist is on call 24/7. Charting is done using an electronic medical record system. The nursing staff may float to other units as needed. Weekend rotations are required, with a schedule of working four days one week and three days the next week. Time off requests are limited to seven days and must extend the contract for any full week of requested time off. Major holidays will require working two out of three. The unit is known for its diverse culture and is traveler-friendly.
