PCU/Step Down Float Registered Nurse

Job Description

The PCU/Step Down Float Registered Nurse is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to patients in a dynamic and diverse setting. The nurse will float between various units as needed, filling shifts within the institution and caring for patients with a wide range of conditions.

Responsibilities

• Manage patient care in the PCU/Step Down unit, providing assessment, planning, and implementation of nursing care plans.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, while monitoring patient responses.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Float to different units such as med-surg and telemetry based on patient needs and staffing requirements.
• Participate in charge nurse responsibilities on smaller units, including staffing management and bed flow coordination.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience in an acute care setting, with charge nurse experience required.
• Active RN license in the state of practice.
• ACLS and NIHSS certifications required.
• Experience with charting in the Epic system.
• Experience with patients in acute care, telemetry, and post-operative settings.
