Registered Nurse - Interventional Radiology

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for managing and directing nursing care in the cath lab and interventional radiology areas. They perform comprehensive patient assessments, develop and coordinate individualized care plans, and implement nursing interventions while ensuring patient safety and comfort. Key duties include documenting care, recognizing and responding to changes in patient condition, assisting physicians with procedures, and providing patient education and discharge planning. They demonstrate professional accountability, participate in quality improvement activities, and collaborate effectively with healthcare teams. Qualifications include a graduate of an accredited nursing program, at least one year of medical-surgical experience (critical care or PACU preferred), and current BLS and ALS certifications. They must adhere to safety protocols, infection control policies, and provide age-appropriate, specialized care, including restraint use and pain management. Licensure requirements vary by state, requiring active RN licenses and certifications from recognized authorities. Physical demands involve prolonged standing, patient transfers, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
