Project Accountant

Location: West of Chicago (Hybrid)

A growing, project-based organization is seeking a Project Accountant to partner with project managers and operations leaders on project financial performance, revenue recognition, and ERP implementation initiatives. This is a newly created, high-visibility role with strong career growth potential and direct exposure to senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Manage project accounting, job costing, budget-to-actual analysis, and margin reporting
Support percentage-of-completion (POC) revenue recognition and WIP accounting
Partner with project managers to monitor project financial health and resolve variances
Assist with month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and financial reporting
Support ERP implementation, system testing, data migration, and process improvements
Prepare project forecasts, cost-at-completion analysis, and management reporting

Preferred Qualifications

3+ years of accounting experience in project accounting, job costing, cost accounting, construction, integration, engineering, or project-based environments
Strong understanding of percentage-of-completion revenue recognition and WIP accounting
Advanced Excel skills with strong technical aptitude
ERP experience required; Epicor and ERP implementation experience highly preferred
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with finance & operational teams
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
