Quality Specialist – Aerospace & Compliance (2nd Shift)

We are seeking a high-level Quality Specialist to serve as a key link between our internal operations, our suppliers, and our global customers. Unlike a traditional final inspector, this role focuses on system-level compliance, external audits, and high-level technical problem-solving. The Role at a Glance

The Quality Specialist plays a critical role in maintaining and elevating product and process compliance across the entire supply chain. You will be the face of quality for our customers and suppliers, managing everything from AS9102 First Article Inspections to complex root cause investigations (CAPA). This is an external-facing role that requires advanced computer literacy, technical expertise, and the ability to represent the company during rigorous audits.

Key Responsibilities

• Supplier & Customer Management: Support audits, manage daily claims through customer portals, and resolve issues related to rejections, waivers, and DPPM within tight deadlines (often 48 hours).
• Advanced Inspection: Perform first article inspections (FAIs) to AS9102 standards and provide hands-on support using precision instruments like micrometers, calipers, and optical comparators.
• System Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to AS9100, ISO 9001, and SAE standards (AS5553, AS6174).
• Root Cause & CAPA: Lead investigations into non-conformances, implement corrective actions, and track quality metrics through Power BI or Excel.
• Technical Documentation: Interpret complex customer specifications and flowdowns, and author customer-specific quality procedures.

What You Bring to the Team

• Experience: 5+ years of progressive quality inspection experience, specifically within aerospace, medical device, or industrial manufacturing. Direct experience with aerospace fasteners is highly preferred.
• Audit Expertise: Proven track record of conducting or supporting customer and supplier audits.
• Technical Mastery: Expert knowledge of GD&T, blueprint interpretation, and ERP systems (SAP preferred).
• Certifications: AS9100 Internal Auditor, ASQ CQI/CQA, or Six Sigma certifications are a significant advantage.
• Analytical Mindset: Ability to stay focused under the pressure of external audits and make informed decisions in high-stakes environments.

Work Environment & Requirements

• Location: Based in California.
• Travel: Up to 25% travel for supplier and customer site audits.
• Physical: Ability to lift 30–50 lbs and perform inspections in a warehouse/manufacturing environment.
